On Day 2, after the amazing river rafting experience, even though we were knackered we were on a tight schedule. Our story was “so much to experience with so less time”.The next destination to witness was Haridwar Ganga Aarti.

The drive to Haridwar Ganga ghat took us 1.5 hours from Dehradun. Once we reached, we had to walk on the banks of the ganga river leading towards the Har ki Pauri Ghat, where the aarti takes place. The aarti is performed every day during sunrise and sunset.

We were blown away by the sheer number of people who were present. There were thousands of people, all of them sharing the same belief, praying and chanting to goddess Ganga. The priests perform the aarti chanting sanskrit mantras along with offerings such as honey, milk, flowers etc. The ritual was accompanied by bells, drums and music. This was a sight not to miss.

Once the aarti got over, we followed the ritual of leaving a floating diya into the river with our prayers. The float diyas (candle), with burning flickers and flowers in them are a symbol of hope and wishes. The golden hues of the floral diyas reflected in the river Ganges present the most enchanting sight.

As the day 2 ends, we were looking forward eagerly to the days to come which were filled with more exciting and adrenaline pumping activities.
